Bodaq® fire ratings: ASTM E84 Class A across the range
Every Bodaq interior film finish sold by Surface Supply is fire rated to ASTM E84 with a Class A result for US interior use, including the standard versions that are not marked flame-retardant in the Korean catalog. Test reports are issued per pattern series. Give Surface Supply the pattern code and the occupancy and the current report, with the pattern-code mapping, comes back before it goes on a drawing.
The short version
There is no split between fire-rated and non-fire-rated Bodaq patterns in the United States. Every interior finish in the 2026-2027 catalog passes ASTM E84 with a Class A result, the surface-burning classification US interior finish requirements are written around. The only distinction the catalog draws is a Korea-specific flame-retardant grade, explained below, and it does not change the US rating.

Hyundai L&C's technical bulletin also records elevator compliance to ASME A17.1 in the United States, CSA B44 in Canada and TSSA.
What the Korean catalog markers mean (and do not mean)
The catalog prints 방염 (flame-retardant) or 비방염 (non-flame-retardant) against each swatch. Those markers describe a Korea-specific flame-retardant grade (KS F 2271) approved by the Korea Fire Institute, which some Korean occupancies require. They are not the US fire rating. A pattern marked 비방염 in the catalog still passes ASTM E84 with a Class A result for US interior use.
On this site the 방염 marker is transcribed as FR, labelled "Korea FR grade available", so it is not mistaken for the US rating. 440 of the 468 patterns carry it. It is only relevant if a project also has to satisfy the Korean grade; for a US submittal, use the ASTM E84 report.
Why test reports are issued per pattern series
Bodaq is not one recipe. The face print, the emboss and the film build differ between series, and Hyundai L&C's own documentation notes that structures vary. Test reports follow the product that was tested, so they are issued against individual series (NS, W, LF, RM, PZ and SPW among them). The result is the same, Class A, but the document an authority having jurisdiction wants is the one that names the series your pattern code belongs to.
Hyundai L&C supplies the full certification package and Surface Supply keeps the mapping from pattern code to series report current. In practice that means fixing the pattern code, then asking for the report that covers it, rather than hunting for a range-wide certificate that would not name your material.
How to specify it
- Pick the pattern. Use the pattern index. Every interior finish is ASTM E84 Class A, so choose on the finish, not on the marker.
- Tell us the occupancy. Corridor, exit enclosure, guest room, lift car and healthcare corridor all pull different requirements from the code.
- We send the current report. Surface Supply supplies the ASTM E84 report for that series together with the pattern-code mapping, so it can go straight into the submittal package.
- Write the code into the schedule. Specify the pattern code explicitly, so what is ordered matches what was approved.
Beyond flame spread
Fire is usually the gating question, but code-driven projects often ask for the rest of the material file too. Bodaq's published data covers heavy metals (cadmium, lead, mercury and hexavalent chromium not detected under IEC 62321), PBBs and PBDEs below 5 mg/kg, phthalates below 50 mg/kg, and an Environmental Product Declaration giving a global warming potential of 1.96 kg CO2 eq./m².
