Care

Caring for Bodaq® interior film

Clean Bodaq with a soft cloth and a mild detergent solution, then wipe dry — nothing abrasive, no solvent scrubbing and no scouring pads. Hyundai L&C's testing shows the surface resists coffee, cola, soy sauce, wine vinegar, milk, olive oil, ethanol, acetone and dilute acids and alkalis with no change after 24 hours of contact.

Everyday cleaning

  • Dust with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth.
  • For marks, use warm water with a little neutral detergent (the tested concentration is 0.5%), then wipe dry.
  • Work with the grain direction on woodgrain and brushed metallic patterns.
  • Dry the surface rather than letting water sit on seams and edges.

What the durability data says

Pencil hardness3H (ASTM D3363, 750 g)
Abrasion loss15.1 mg — ISO 9352, CS-10 wheel, 1,000 g, 1,000 cycles
Stain resistanceNo change after 24 h contact with coffee, cola, soy sauce, wine vinegar, milk, olive oil, ethanol, acetone, 0.5% detergent, 5% acetic acid, 5% ammonia, hydrochloric acid, 5% sodium carbonate, 5% sodium chloride

What to avoid

  • Abrasives — scouring pads, cream cleaners and melamine foam erasers will dull the emboss and the sheen.
  • Prolonged solvent contact. The film tolerates brief contact with the reagents above; that is not the same as leaving solvent sitting on it.
  • Steam and standing water at edges, which can work into seams over time.
  • Heat sources directly against the surface.
  • Adhesive removers and silicone sprays near edges, which can compromise the bond.

The first week

The acrylic adhesive keeps building grip after application and reaches full strength in three to seven days. Keep new surfaces off heavy duty during that period and avoid wet cleaning of fresh edges. See the installation guide.

Damage and repair

Film is repaired by replacing the affected piece rather than by patching within a panel — a patch mid-face will always read. Because it is applied panel by panel, damage is usually contained to one door leaf or one cabinet front, which is a genuine advantage over a fully laminated run. Keep the pattern code on the asset register: reordering the right code years later is far easier than trying to match by eye.

Warranty

Warranty terms are commercial rather than technical and depend on the product, the application and the market. We do not publish terms here because they should come from the current documentation for what you are actually buying — ask Surface Supply for the terms that apply to your pattern and project.

FAQ

Questions about care

How do you clean Bodaq film?

A soft cloth with warm water and a mild neutral detergent, then wipe dry. Avoid abrasive pads, cream cleaners and prolonged solvent contact.

Is Bodaq film scratch resistant?

It is rated 3H on the ASTM D3363 pencil hardness test and loses 15.1 mg in a 1,000-cycle abrasion test with a CS-10 wheel. That is durable for wall and casework surfaces, but it is a film, not a benchtop.

Can Bodaq film be repaired?

Damaged areas are replaced piece by piece rather than patched mid-panel. Keeping a record of the pattern code makes reordering straightforward.

Does Bodaq film fade?

Interior film is specified for interior conditions. Strong, sustained direct sunlight is hard on any interior finish — for exterior or heavily glazed exposures ask about the exterior-grade range instead.
